A Brand New "Day" for Adobe
Adobe just announced its pending acquisition of CMS company Day Software. With Day, Adobe brings in a lot of Apache Software Foundation veterans, including Roy Fielding, who was co-founder of the ASF. Day Software has donated code to Apache Jackrabbit and Sling. Adobe will acquire Day for $240 million and will focus on integrating CRX, Day's content repository for web content and social collaboration.
Firefox 4 2nd Beta Debuts the First Web App Tabs
The first beta of Firefox 4 premiered their tabs-on-top setting. Beta two comes with that setting for Mac OS X and the ability to make a web app tab that always displays and only shows the icon, taking up less space. Beta 2 also includes support for CSS transitions.
GNOME 3 Delayed Until 2011
After some discussion at the GUADEC conference, developers have decided to postpone the release of GNOME 3 until March 2011. 3.0 was initially expected to arrive in September 2010, but more time was needed to improve the quality of the release. Project developers did have some good news: you can expect a GNOME 2.32 release and the GNOME 3.0 beta in September.
