DZone to Launch a New Program – Refcardz

Refcardz is a series of high-quality quick reference cards on developer-related topics. We are gathering authors from some of the best computer book publishers to create content that is more than just tables and code as seen in most reference cards available. Major elements of each Refcard might include:

  • Key tables with room for examples
  • Diagrams for core concepts
  • Crucial definitions
  • Examples to show larger concepts
  • Hot Tips

The goal is to launch each Refcard with a feature about the author, related book review(s), sample book chapters, and author interviews. The program is new, so we’ll be looking for your feedback. We want to provide you with useful content in a format that’s easily digestable.

Be on the look out for the first Refcardz in the series - coming in April.

We're so close. The target is April 15th to launch the following Refcardz:

  • Spring Configuration
  • Getting Started with Eclipse
  • GWT Style, Configuration and JSNI Reference
  • Getting Started with Ajax

Beginning in May, we will launch one new Refcard each week. The line-up for May, so far, looks like this:

  • May 5 - Windows PowerShell
  • May 12 - Dependency Injection with EJB 3
  • May 19 - jQuery Selectors
  • May 26 - MS Silverlight 2.0

If you're interested in getting access to draft versions by becoming a reviewer, go to http://refcardz.dzone.com/beta-test-refcardz, and sign up.

Otherwise, check back to refcardz.com on April 15th for the launch of the first four. Thanks for checking in.

Before logging into dzone I kept on getting an error that said something about selecting too many entries and I should read the guidelines and try again.  That happened if I selected 1 or more topics.  Then after logging in I get a "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator." error message.

Also the email entry box has an asterisk next to it but no where could I find out what that meant.  Maybe it is these hidden guidelines that I should read?

Could someone explain why all of the personal information is being collected?

Hi Rich,

Thanks for checking out the Refcardz. We ask for the profile information so that we can deliver value-add offers to our members later on with minimal hassle to you. You only ever need to fill out one form to get anything on our site. These value-add offers might include things like sets of printed Refcardz in the future.
